SoCal Jazz Academy curriculum is based on teaching students fundamentals and advanced concepts of jazz improvisation via in-person performance-based approach in group settings combined with weekly instrument-specific 1-on-1 coaching by our Faculty in online format.
This involves, among other things, concepts from music theory, jazz performance practice, and music history. Our classes are fun, creative, and are done in a collegial environment! Every session ends with a Recital where students can showcase newly acquired skills for their pees, friends, and family.
Our classrooms are equipped with Kawai & Steinway grand pianos and Gretsch Catalina acoustic jazz drumset. Facilities include a safe waiting area with restrooms, ample parking, and easy access off of I-5 via Jamboree exit.
Please check our Academic Calendar for the most up to date schedule.
How to Register
If you are a new student, please fill out the form below. Registration process consists of the following:
Once the interest form is submitted, we will reach out and can answer any questions that may arise via email or phone.
If the schedule permits, we usually ask prospective students to audit one of our classes in the current session free of charge to get a sense of our teaching style and facilities.
Once you are satisfied and confirm your decision to enroll, we will send you an invoice payable online with variety of methods (credit card, PayPal) which confirms your seat in the upcoming session.
Please note that we do our best in order avoid doubling of the same instruments -- i.e. by placing 2 drummers in separate combos -- however, as this may not always be possible, as a general rule, seating is on a first-come-first-served basis.
Returning students do not need to resubmit the form for every session and will receive an invoice a week or two prior to start of a new session.
