About the Event
Orange County's new performance-based K-12 afterschool jazz education program will hold 2 day Registration Session which will consist of a 1-on-1 parent info session with the Director and an audition (see details below). Our ensembles are based on beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels and will feature a combination of weekly rehearsals and private coaching sessions.
AUDITION DETAILS
No previous experience
- Rhythmic pattern recognition (call and response, clapping
- Melodic pattern recognition (voice)
Beginning
- 1 octave major scale
Intermediate
- A jazz standard of your choosing, played unaccompanied (just the melody)
Advanced
- A major blues of your choice performed with/without accompaniment (head-in, one chorus solo, head out)
Acoustic piano, bass and guitar amps will be provided. Please inquire in advance about any other special needs and/or instruments such as drumset/percussion. You will need to make your own arrangements to locate an instrumental rental program if you don't have an instrument.
